Biography - Brendan Jacobs

Brendan has been teaching Performing Arts since 2000. During this time he has directed 6 plays and 4 film festivals, winning the 2006 Flame award. He is currently at Elwood Primary School working with over 620 children from Prep to Grade 6 each week. He is also the ICT coordinator there.

He completed a Masters's degree in 2007 through Monash University called Animating Best Practice which involved the development of a pedagogy for teaching with animation. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne for the Storyboard project which involves children using animation to present and refine their own learning.

Brendan started on acoustic guitar at the age of 8 and began classical guitar lessons at the age of 11. He took up bass when he was 14 and studied Jazz Bass at the Canberra School of Music when he was 18.

Brendan has been based in Melbourne, Australia since 1990 where he has played and recorded with various artists. He founded BJ Multimedia in 1999 and released the first enable Electric Bass CD-ROM later that year. Since then he has revised and expanded the content of enable Bass including the new acoustic bass material with input from his former Jazz teacher, George Urbaszek.
