Brendan Jacobs

I have been teaching Performing Arts since 2000. During this time I have directed 7 plays and 6 film festivals, winning the 2006 Flame award. I am currently at Elwood Primary School working with over 750 children from Prep to Grade 6 each week.

I completed a Masters degree in 2007 through Monash University called Animating Best Practice which was constructed using interactive multimedia. I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne for the Storyboard project which involves children designing and making their own explanatory animations to present and refine their own learning.

I started on acoustic guitar at the age of 8 and began classical guitar lessons at the age of 11. I took up bass when I was 14 and studied Jazz Bass at the Canberra School of Music when I was 18.

I have been based in Melbourne, Australia since 1990 where I have played and recorded with various artists. I founded BJ Multimedia in 1999 and released the first enable Electric Bass CD-ROM later that year. Since then I have revised and expanded the content of enable Bass including the new acoustic bass material with input from my former Jazz teacher, George Urbaszek.

Many of my closest friends have collaborated with me to make a complete series for the modern band:
