A phaser splits your sound into two signals. One of these is then taken in and out of phase with the original signal. As the phasing changes, various frequencies are cancelled out which creates a warm twisting sound.

Variables for the phaser effect are speed which controls the rate of the phaser sweep, depth which changes the amount of phase in the split signal and regeneration which controls the amount of phased sound fed back into the unit.
